Artificial Intelligence
Ai is here to stay whether you believe it or not. Everyone Uses it and if they aren’t using it in some capacity they are missing out and a lot of efficiency. It is unforgiving if you give it the keys to the kingdom so take heed at what you give it access to and where it has access. Imagine if Ai got its hands on every U.S. Citizen’s Data and just ran rampant. This is why safeguarding PII may even be more important than safeguarding CUI and other higher data security classifications across Governments all over the world. Ai speaks over a hundred languages fluently and I fear its only a matter of time before it can do, well, everything. For some reason opposable thumbs and functioning knee caps still makes human beings ideal for most manual labor on planet earth. Only if Ai takes human form will it become a true threat to humanity. Movies are rolling out their own spins on Ai but IT Security is goin through it man. Its hard to regulate because you feel like you need to become a Pro on every single Ai chat bot and tool on the market when you’re just tryna make new Security Baselines and Best Practices the new cultural norm. Nation States have already begun to use Ai to target people in the Middle East. Highly advanced AI, if given access to weapons of war, is by far the most dangerous human invention to date. Keep all Antivirus, Malware Protection, Intrusion Detection Prevention, and Firewalls up to date to remain vigilant against rising Ai Threats. Do your research before adopting new tools but also be reasonable when understanding the benefits Ai Tools and Solutions said Tools can have on staff. There is always going to be risks associated with Ai but are you really going to miss out on the benefits just because some ill informed staff member COULD potentially enter a non-allowable piece of data into Ai? No, you are going to make sure your End User base is trained on what not to do and take note of those who keep trying to push the envelope. There are some people who just don’t want to train and retrain themselves with refreshers to meet Security Goals. Checking the simple boxes helps make sure we Secure data and systems. There should be more clear Artificial Intelligence Security Guidance in today’s world but the fact still remains that you should never give Ai Legal, Confidential, or Personal Data. Its unfortunate that some are using Ai for nefarious purposes but you must always make sure that none of them are at your organization. As much as I believe you shouldn’t spy on your employees, I do agree that you should have security controls that not only scan removable media and the actions thereof, I am a firm believer that you should always maintain the ability to prevent End Users from utilizing Company Computers to exfiltrate Company or Government Data.
